Last week we reviewed what we know about statistics on Monday and Tuesday. They took the unit 4 test on Wednesday and we reviewed areas that students had trouble with on Thursday. We also measured the students' heights to use for the task on Friday. For Friday's task the students took the data gathered on Thursday and used it to compare the heights of different classes.
This week we started Unit 5: Piecewise, Inverse, and Exponential Functions. We started with the properties of exponents. We have practiced multiplying and dividing numbers and variables with exponents for the past two days. Today we will review a little more and take a quiz.

Unit 4: Day 13
Today the students had time to finish the worksheet that they have had for 3 days. They then worked on their sample questions from yesterday. When everyone was finished each group shared their questions and the class decided what type of sample the questions were. We then read some example problems and discussed the types of samples, as well as biased and unbiased.

Unit 4 Days 8-12
We apologize for not posting sooner. Here is what went on in class last Wednesday through today (Tuesday):
Wednesday: We worked more on normal distribution. The students were given a 2-5-8 worksheet for homework.
Thursday: We did more normal distribution practice. We expaned on this topic and learned how to determine if data was from a normal population. There was no homework Thursday.
Friday: Students completed a review activity to prepare them for the Quiz. Reminder: students may stay after school to re-take quizzes they fail or to make up missing work, or to get extra help.
Monday: Students were given different practice sheets based on how well they did on the quiz Friday. Students worked alone, together, or with the teacher to complete the worksheet. The students have until Wednesday to finish and turn this sheet in.
Tuesday: Today we worked on population samples and types of sampling. Students must come up with one example of a specific type of sampling for homework.
**Today students were given grade sheets with all their current grades listed. You also may login to iParent to see your child's grades at amy time.

Unit 4 Day 4
Today we practiced more standard deviation problems, as well as learned how to use the calculator to find the standard deviation. Students really need to have their own scientific calculator so they can work these problems at home.
