Unit 4 Day 5

Today we worked more on standard deviations, using dot plots and frequency tables. We will continue to work on this tomorrow.

We had no homework today.

Unit 4 Day 4

Today we practiced more standard deviation problems, as well as learned how to use the calculator to find the standard deviation. Students really need to have their own scientific calculator so they can work these problems at home.

Homework:
textbook page 261 #7-17 all...follow the directions in the book.

Unit 4 Day 3

Today we had a quiz over the material from yesterday. Students were able to see what they made on the quiz before they left class. Any time students fail a quiz they have the opportunity to come on their own time to re-take it (preferably after school).

Today we took notes on standard deviation. The steps for this process can be found HERE, along with an example.

Homework:
For the following sets, find the Mean, Median, Mode, Range, Standard Deviation, and tell whether the Variability and Consistency are high or low.

Set 1: 22, 78, 43, 58, 19
Set 2: 3, 4, 6, 8, 4

REMINDER:
Syllabus signed and letters are due FRIDAY.

Unit 4 Day 2

Today we worked on pre-requisite skills for Unit 4. These skills are mean, median, mode, and range. We also discussed the terms variability and consistency. The students took notes and completed practice problems.

Students received the syllabus today, which has a sheet that should be filled out, signed by both parent and student, and returned by FRIDAY. Please read over this and feel free to email us with any questions.

Students also checked out textbooks today. These books should be brought to class every day.

Homework: textbook page 261 #1-18 EVEN.
#1-6: follow directions.
#7-12: Find the range and tell whether the variability and consistency are high or low.
#14-18: Just find mean, median, mode and range.
