Yesterday and today the students worked on a pre-test packet. This packet contains practice problems to refresh the students' minds over concepts taught last semester. The students were first asked to do as much as possible without a calculator, then were given time with a calculator to go back and work problems.
Speaking of calculators, we have a class set of calculators. Although it would be best for each student to have their own personal scientific calculator, we do allow them to use ours. Each student was assigned a calculator today, which will be theirs to use any time they need it. If their assigned calculator is missing at the end of the block, it is their responsibility to find it or replace it. As stated, students really need their own calculators so that when it comes time for the EOCT and other standardized tests they will have one they are familiar with to use. If you are not sure what kind to purchase, let us know and we can give you a list of options. A good scientific calculator can be purchased at most stores for about $10 or so.
On Monday we will begin Unit 4: Statistics. We will begin by reviewing mean, median, and mode. Students must be familiar with these concepts in order to be able to move on in the statistics unit.
Have a great weekend!

Welcome to Spring Semester 2012!
Welcome to Math 2, the second part of Math 2 Support. We are excited to begin a new semester with some of our old students, as well as some new ones. This semester we will be completing units 4-6 of the Math 2 curriculum. At the end of the semester ALL students will take the EOCT, which will count as 15% of the overall grade.
Students will receive a syllabus on Monday, January 9. Parents will need to read over the syllabus, fill out the information sheet, sign, and return to us. To see a copy of the syllabus click HERE.
This blog will be a place for students and parents to visit to find out topics covered daily, assignments, homework, test dates, etc... Please check-in on a regular basis to stay up-dated on the goings-on of our class. Please feel free to contact us either by phone or email any time you have a question or concern. We both are available after school for help or to make up missed assignments.
